Second seeds Canada have won their final group game at the World Squash Federation Men’s World Junior Team Championships in Chennai in India to ensure their progression to the knock-out stage.

They beat Argentina today 2-1 in the first match on court at the Indian Squash Academy, having dispatched Scotland 3-0 in their first match yesterday in Group B.

Top seeds Egypt did not play today in Group A, having already secured their place in the next round with two wins yesterday,

Australia and Singapore battled it out for second place in Group A however, and it was the Australian’s who came out on top, winning the match 3-0 to ensure they also progress.

They are now due to play Canada in the last of the quarter-finals.

In Group C, Ireland beat South Africa 2-1 today to gain their place in the next round in second place, while fourth seeds Malaysia won their second match in Group D to ensure they top that group.

After losing a tight match to India yesterday, Switzerland beat tournament debutants Saudi Arabia 3-0 today, ensuring they are now through from Group E and the Czech Republic, who are seeded sixth, beat Pakistan 2-1, meaning they top Group F.

New Zealand have won Group G after beating Qatar today 3-0, leaving Colombia take second in that group as they also beat Qatar 3-0.

The final group, Group F has has been won by Hong Kong, the ninth seeds.

They beat Finland, who are seeded 21st, in the last match of the day 3-0, having already beaten the United States earlier in the day 3-0.

Only the successful teams from Group A and B are guaranteed to meet each other in the next round.

The rest of the quarter-final line up is decided by a draw.
