Para-snowboarders Brenna Huckaby and Mike Schultz have been named winners at ESPN's Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards.

The athletes scooped the Best Female and Male Athlete with a Disability prizes respectively at a ceremony in Los Angeles.

The annual awards celebrate both individual and team achievements in sport.

Schultz won snowboard cross gold on his Paralympic debut in Pyeongchang in March and also bagged a silver in the SB-LL1 banked slalom.

When he is not competing, Schultz runs a company called BioDapt, designing prosthetic legs used by many other athletes.

Huckaby won both SB-LL1 competitions on her Paralympic debut.

She was the only US athlete to go undefeated at an individual event in Pyeongchang.

Four athletes were shortlisted for both awards, with the winners picked by fans in an online vote.

Nordic skiers Oksana Masters and Kendall Gretsch were also nominated for the women's award after success at the Winter Paralympics.

Tatyana McFadden was the only athlete in either category to be nominated for a performance outside of Pyeongchang 2018.

The 29-year-old, who was born in Russia, won the Boston Marathon having recently suffered from severe blood clots in her legs.

Biathlon's Dan Cnossen, Alpine skier Andrew Kurka and Para-ice hockey player Declan Farmer were nominated for the men's prize.
