Bangladesh beat Ireland by 25 runs to win the International Cricket Council's Women's World Twenty20 qualifying tournament in The Netherlands.

Both sides had already earned the two places available at the flagship event in the West Indies by virtue of reaching the final, but it was the Asian nation who added extra gloss to their campaign by winning the competition.

After being asked to bat, Bangladesh made 122-0 from their 20 overs at the Kampong Cricket Club in Utrecht.

Ayasha Rahman top-scored with 46 as Lucy O'Reilly ended with bowling figures of 4-28.

Ireland collapsed in reply and were bowled out for 95.

The bulk of the damage was done by Panna Ghosh who ended with superb figures of 5-16.

Elsewhere, Scotland thrashed Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets to finish third.

Kathryn Bryce ended unbeaten on 51 for the Scots as they chased down the Oceania side's 101-6 without losing a wicket after 17 overs.

Thailand won the fifth-place play-off by beating Uganda by 34 runs.

The Asian nation scored 113-7 and then restricted their opponents to 79-8.

The United Arab Emirates beat hosts The Netherlands after a super over to finish seventh.

The game was tied with both sides making 146.

Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and hosts West Indies had already qualified for the World Twenty20, due to be held in Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana and St Lucia from November 9 to 24.
