Australia claimed an 18-6 win over Scotland today in their first outing at the 2018 Men’s Lacrosse World Championship in Israel.

Nigel Morton top scored with three goals in the blue division match at the Wingate National Sport Institution in Netanya. 

Christopher Robertson, Luke Keesing, Matthew Fuss, William Pickett and James Lawerson all scored braces, while Mitchell Kennedy, Thomas Graham, Isaac Cahill, Christopher Plumb and Lachlan Walker chipped-in with one apiece.

Two of Scotland’s goals came courtesy of Ryan Sage with Luke Laszkiewicz, Sean Darroch, James McBride and Colin Uyeki also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Today's other blue division match saw defending champions Canada defeat England 12-6.

Jeffrey Teat and Curtis Dickson both bagged hat-tricks for the Canadians with team-mate Joshua Byrne notching two goals.

Mark Matthews, Tyson Bell, Latrell Harris and Jake Withers also found the target.

Alfred Scarpello scored two of England's goals, while Ryan Sweetman, Joshua Sherry-Brennan, Nicholas Watson and Ryan Hunns added one each. 

The top six best-ranked teams are playing in the blue division with the United States and the Iroquois nation completing the line-up. 

All of the top four will advance to the Championship round with the top two receiving byes to the semi-finals.

Fourteen other pools contain three teams each with lower-ranked countries also battling to make the Championship stage with the leading nations.

Tomorrow's blue division schedule sees Australia face the US, Canada meet Scotland and the Iroquois nation go up against England.
