Germany's Rudy Schneider and Simon Pfretzschner finished top of Pool A to reach the round-of-16 in the men's event at the Beach Volleyball Under-19 World Championships in Nanjing, China.

The German pair, who had reached pool play matches by winning both qualification round games in straight sets, maintained their perfect record with two further wins in Pool A before completing their sweep today with a 21-14, 21-14 win over Canada's Cole Irwin and Robert Kemp at the Tangshan International Beach Sports Park.

Three other pairs - Poland's Dominik Poznanski and Mikolaj Miszczuk, Russia's Alexey Gusev and Pavel Shustrov and Argentina's Mauro Zelayeta and Bautista Amieva, provided dominating performances by winning each of their respective pool play matches without dropping a set.

Poznanski and Miszczuk completed their sweep of Pool E with a 21-16, 21-14 win over Kazakhstan's Nurdos Aldash andAbdulmajid Mokhammad in this International Volleyball Federation event.

Then Gusev and Shustrov secured a 21-15, 21-18 victory over New Zealand's Keegan Maan Tai Joe and Ryan Gunn in Pool G, while Zelayeta and Amieva made short work of China's Jiang Linghan and Yuan Xu, winning their Pool H match 21-17, 21-11.

Germany's Lukas Pfretzschner and Filip John also finished with three victories, after rallying from a set down in their three-set encounter with the second-seeded Brazilian duo Gabriel Zuliani and Gabriel De Abreu Lima Pisco to win 18-21, 21-13, 15-11 and finish top of Pool B.

Italy's Di Silvestre and Marchetto maintained their winning streak since the qualification round with a 21-16, 21-9 win against Norway's Elvind Brekke and Nils Gunnar Ringoen in Pool D, while Thailand's Phichakon Narathon and Phanupong Thanan defeated Austria's Laurenz Leitne and Theo Reiter 21-19, 21-17 for leadership in Pool F.

After suffering defeat at the hands of England's Javier and Joaquin Bello yesterday, third-seeded Nathan Broch and Timon Gysin of Switzerland bounced back to win Pool C after defeating USA's Timothy Brewster and John Schwengel 21-11, 21-11.

In the women's competition, three pairs - Spain's Aina Munar and Sofia Gonzalez Racero, Canada's Erika Vermette and Dana Roskic and Russia's Mariia Bocharova and Maria Voronina put together perfect runs in their respective pool play matches.

After enduring tiebreakers in the qualification round, Munar and Gonzalez displayed steady straight-set winning performances.

The Spanish duo beat Peru's Medalyn Mendoza and Lisbeth Allcca Merino 21-8, 21-14 and Poland's Julia Gierczynska and Patrycja Jundzill 21-12, 21-18 to complete the sweep of Pool B.

Canadians Vermette and Roskic defeated Israel's Noga Maor and Maya Ben Shlomo 21-10, 21-9 and the US' Devon Newberry and Lindsey Sparks 24-22, 21-15 to complete victories in their Pool D matches.

Russians Bocharova and Voronina beat Mozambique's Mercia Mucheza andAna Sinaportar 21-12, 21-16 and Germany's Lea Sophie Kunst and Anna-Lena Grune 21-11, 21-12 for a perfect finish in Pool F.
