Chinese Taipei continued their promising start to the Under-21 World Korfball Championships as they recorded their third straight win with victory over Portugal in Budapest.

The team from Chinese Taipei are the only side to still have a 100 per cent record as they beat Portugal 19-16 in the Group B encounter at the Tüskecsarnok in the Hungarian capital.

The result marked Portugal's first defeat of the tournament and saw Chinese Taipei cement top spot in the group.

Hungary are also on six points along with Portugal after the host nation were beaten 23-21 by Germany.

China picked up their first win as they were on the right side of a 24-15 scoreline in their clash with Turkey.

In Group A, korfball heavyweights The Netherlands and Belgium are locked in a battle for first place after both teams recorded victories today.

The Netherlands, who edged Belgium yesterday, thrashed the Czech Republic 53-12 in the last game of the day.

Belgium had earlier been too strong for Hong Kong as they claimed a comfortable 40-5 triumph.

A total of 12 nations initially entered the event before the Dominican Republic withdrew due to financial problems.

The International Korfball Federation said they would not replace them, meaning Pool A has just five teams.
