Czech Republic celebrate their men's title ©IFF

The Czech Republic saw off Switzerland to win the men's title at the World University Floorball Championships in Lodz.

They came through 5-3 to win at the City Sports Hall in Poland.

Josef Pluhar and Radek Vales gave the Czechs a 2-0 lead before Michael Schiess and Tim Aebersold brought Switzerland level.

Jakub Gruber made it 3-2 to the Czech Republic and then missed a penalty shot to score again.

That looked costly as Manuel Engel drew Switzerland level, but Pluhar then netted again.

It was then left to Jan Rehor to add the fifth goal for the eventual winners.

Finland won the women's title as they roared past Czech Republic 6-2 to deny the nation a double.

Most of the damage was done in the third and final period when the Finns struck on four occasions to take the final out of the reach of the Czechs.

My Kippila had given Finland an early lead but Gabriela Tozickova levelled for the Czechs in the second period.

Oona Kauppi then bagged a hat-trick to put the Finns 4-1 up before Adela Bocanova gave the Czechs some hope.

It was not to be for them as Veera Kauppi and Jenna Saario added extra gloss to the Finnish score.

A missed penalty shot from Finland's Sara Piispa was not to matter.
