France lead after the opening dressage test of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Eventing Nations League which began today in Strzegom in Poland.

France's team of Maxime Livio, Christopher Six and Francois Lemiere finished on a combined tally of 93,40 faults after the opening day of competition.

It was enough to finish clear of the 101,50 tally amassed by Linda Algotsson, Johan Lundin and Sandra Gustafsson of Sweden.

Germany sit in third place with the cross country and jumping to come as Marie Kraack, Andreas Dibowski and Niklas Bschorer scored 102,90.

Italy, Great Britain and hosts Poland occupy the next three places.

It is Germany's Kraack, though, who managed the best individual performance to lead with 26,10 penalty points.

Algotsson of Sweden lies second with 26,30 and Yoshiaki Oiwa of Japan - who did not manage a full team - third with 28,20.

Sweden currently top the Nations League standings after two events with 150 points after finishing second in Vairano in Italy and then fifth at Houghton Hall in England.

They are followed by France and Germany who each have 100 points after winning in Vairano and at Houghton Hall respectively.

Action is due to continue tomorrow.
