Double world medallist Manrique Larduet of Cuba continued his good form at the International Gymnastics Federation World Challenge Cup in Portuguese city Guimarães by topping the men’s parallel bars qualification standings today.

The 21-year-old, who finished first in the men’s pommel horse qualification rankings yesterday, managed an unrivalled total of 15.300 points at the Pavilhao Multiusos de Guimaraes.

Romania's Andrei Vasile Muntean finished second with 14.650 points, while Switzerland’s Henji Mboyo came third with 14.500.

In the men’s vault, the best performer was Guatemala’s Jorge Vega Lopez with 14.575 points.

He was followed by Japan’s Takumi Sato with 14.400 points and Lithuania’s Robert Tvorogal with 13.925.

Cuba’s Randy Leru came out on top in the men’s high bar with 14.300 points, beating nearest challengers Kevin Cerda of Mexico and Kentaro Yunoki of Japan by a margin of 0.300.

Qualification was also held today in the women’s balance beam and floor exercise.

Canada’s Isabela Onyshko, a team gold medallist at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, outshone her opponents in the balance beam with 13.250 points.

Home favourite Filipa Martins finished second with 12.700 points, while Switzerland’s Stefanie Siegenthaler came third with 12.650.

In the floor exercise, Great Britain’s Emily Thomas prevailed with 13.050 points.

Second place went to Onyshko with 13.000 points, while fellow Canadian Laurie Denommee completed the top three with the same score.

Action in Guimarães is due to continue tomorrow.
