The 2018 Pan American Karate Federation (PKF) Senior Championships are due to begin in Santiago tomorrow with Chile’s capital set to host the 32nd edition of the event.

The competition venue is the "Polideportivo del Estadio Nacional", which was built for the 2014 South American Games and has a capacity of 4,000 people.

It has provided the setting for many international events, including the Chilean Karate Federation National Championships.

Among the finals scheduled to be held there on day one are those in the men’s kumite under 75 kilograms, under 84kg and over 84kg categories, and the women’s kumite under 61kg and under 68kg divisions.

Medallists in the men’s and women’s team kata events and women’s Para-karate competition will also be decided.

On Friday (June 15), the men’s kumite under 60kg and under 67kg events will be held along with the women’s kumite under 50kg, under 55kg and over 68kg competitions.

The individual men’s and women’s kata events and men’s Para-karate competition complete the day two line-up before the men’s and women’s team kumite events round-off the Championship on Saturday (June 16).

Curaçao staged last year’s PKF Senior Championships.
