Guimarães is set to play host to an International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) World Challenge Cup over the coming four days with the Portuguese city staging the third stop of the 2018 series.

The Pavilhao Multiusos de Guimaraes will provide the stage for an array of male and female athletes.

Among those hoping to make their mark for the host nation will be Diogo Romero, who will compete in the men’s pommel horse, parallel bars and horizontal bar.

On the women’s side, Rafaela Ferreira is one for the home crowd to look out for in the uneven bars and balance beam.

Guimarães follows Osijek in Croatia and Koper in Slovenia in hosting an FIG World Challenge Cup in 2018.

Further events are due to be held in Mersin in Turkey, Szombathely in Hungary and French capital Paris.

The FIG World Challenge Cup series runs alongside the FIG World Cup series.

Cottbus in Germany is due to stage the last leg of the World Cup series in November.
