Argentina and Spain booked their places in the quarter-finals of the International Blind Sports Federation Blind Football World Championships as defending champions Brazil topped their group in Madrid today.

The Argentinian team dispatched France 3-0 at the Colegio Sagrado Corazón to guarantee their spot in the last eight.

Two goals from Nico Veliz and one from Lucas Rodriguez saw Argentina through to the quarter-finals and they will win Group B if Colombia fail to beat Iran tomorrow.

Spain also progressed, despite suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Turkey in Group A.

Hasan Satay scored the only goal of the game in the second half as Turkey registered their first win at the tournament in the Spanish capital.

Russia moved to the brink of a quarter-final berth following a 3-0 rout of South Korea in Group C.

Reigning world and Paralympic champions Brazil continued their 100 per cent start as they secured top spot in Group C with a 3-0 win against England, who have also gone through.

Gledson, Ricardinho and Jefinho got on the scoresheet for Brazil, who put in another impressive performance.

England qualified, despite the defeat, and are due to complete their group stage campaign against Costa Rica tomorrow.

In the other match in the group, Mali recorded their first World Championships victory courtesy of a 1-0 win over Costa Rica.
