The Ukrainian won eight medals at last week's leg in Surrey, Canada but was beaten in all four solo and duet events by her Japanese rival.

Inui is absent from this week's event, however, seemingly opening the door for Yakhno.

Her biggest rival this time around could be Canada's Jacqueline Simoneau, who took bronze in both solo events last week.

Action will take place over three days at the La Mirada Splash Aquatic Center in the Californian city in what marks the eighth-stop on the World Series.

Yakhno and team-mate Anastasiya Savchuk will take on two sets of twins in China's Jiang Wenwen and Tingting and fellow Ukrainians Vladyslava and Maryna Aleksiiva. 

Only one pair per country can win a medal in World Series duet event, however, according to FINA rules, opening the door to teams from the likes of Canada, United States and Russia. 

Technical world champions Giorgio Minisini and Manila Flamini of Italy will start as favourites in the mixed duet. 

Ukraine will be favourites once again the team events.

Competition is set to begin tomorrow with solo, duet and team technical finals.

Mixed duet technical and both combination and team free events are scheduled for Friday (June 8) before competition concludes with solo free, highlight, duet and mixed duet free events on Saturday (June 9).
