England's Paul Broadhurst carded an eight-under-par final round to claim victory at the Senior Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Championship in Benton Harbor in Michigan.

The 52-year-old claimed his second major win on the Senior Tour as he finished on 18-under at The Golf Club at Harbor Shores.

It matched the best 72-hole score in tournament history first recorded here at Harbor Shores by Rocco Mediate in 2016.

Tim Petrovic of the United States, who was the joint leader with compatriot Scott McCarron going into the final run, ended the tournament in second place, three shots adrift of Broadhurst.

McCarron was a further shot behind in third.

"It was really a special week," Broadhurst said.

"It got a little bit tense out there.

"I knew I was playing well but I didn't seem to making any progress against Tim Petrovic.

"He was side-by-side on the back nine it seemed.

"I'm not blessed with a consistent swing like Bernhard Langer, but when it's on, it works.

"If I'm putting well, then anything can happen, really."

Broadhurst's triumph marked a considerable turnaround after he narrowly avoided missing the cut following a lacklustre opening round.

The Englishman recovered admirably and produced an error-free final round to clinch the Alfred S. Bourne Trophy.
