The Czech Ski Federation has announced its Nordic combined teams and coaching staff for the upcoming winter.

Although there are not many changes with regard to the athletes, the coaching staff includes a few new faces.

Marek Sablatura has been named the head coach of the A-team, replacing Vladimir Smid who has moved into the role of an "experienced assistant coach".

The junior team has been taken over by former athlete Martin Zeman, who called time on his career at the end of last winter.

The women’s team will be coached by Patrik Chlum.

The Czech teams' preparations for the upcoming winter are complicated by the impending closure of the ski complex in Harrachov, which is essential for the training process in winter-time, especially for the younger athletes.

"Every year without the Harrachov jumping hill will be tragic in terms of the development of ski jumping and Nordic combined, so it is now urgent to take the necessary steps to start the promised reconstruction of the entire area," a statement on the teams' Facebook page reads.

The A-team is made up of Lukáš Daněk, Miroslav Dvořák, Ondřej Pažout, Tomáš Portyk, Jan Vytrval and David Zemek.

The athletes are currently undergoing a month of fitness and endurance training with a skiing block in Breitenberg in Germany and a 10-day fitness block in Harrachov.

They have just completed a first jumping session on the smaller hill in Liberec.

Matej Cejchan, Lukas Kohlberger, Ondřej Salaba and Petr Sablatura all feature on the junior team, while the women’s team comprises Jana Mrákotová and Simona Weinlichova.

The junior team has just returned from a jumping camp in Szczyrk in Poland and will spend the summer preparing in Czech Republic along with the women’s team.
