Structural changes have been announced by USA Bobsled and Skeleton (USABS) after the team fell short of their performance goals set for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Mike Kohn has been promoted to bobsled head coach and Shauna Rohbock will serve as assistant bobsled coach.

Ashley Walden also assumed duties as director of sport to oversee bobsled and skeleton programmes.

Brian Shimer will now focus on work as a driving coach while Tuffield Latour will be skeleton head coach.

Elana Meyers Taylor and Lauren Gibbs' two-woman silver was the only medal won by United States in either bobsleigh or skeleton events at the Winter Olympics.

"For most of our history, we’ve had the luxury of being able to focus on the majority of our resources to the top athletes,” Steele said.

“That is no longer a strategy we can maintain.

"In 2018 we were unable to advance most of our top athletes and teams into medal contention and the pipeline of talent is not what it should be.

"We are making changes that will provide both a better coaching structure for our elite athletes and a more effective talent pipeline for the future.”

Kohn won a four-man bronze medal alongside Shimer at the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics.
