China continued their pursuit of a 15th Badminton World Federation Uber Cup title as they reached the semi-finals of this year's tournament with victory over Denmark in Bangkok.

The formidable Chinese team recovered from losing the opening singles rubber to clinch a 3-1 win at the IMPACT Arena in the Thai capital.

China will face Thailand, 3-2 winners over Indonesia, for a place in the final.

Denmark threatened to cause a stunning upset when Mia Blichfeldt overcame World Championships bronze medallist Chen Yufei with a battling 21-18, 13-21, 21-12 triumph.

It proved to be a fleeting moment of success for the Danish team, however, as China bounced back to take the next three matches to progress to the last four.

Li Xuerui also contributed to the Chinese victory as she comfortably beat Natalia Koch Rohde 21-7, 21-9.

The other semi-final will be between Japan and South Korea, who ousted Chinese Taipei and Canada 3-1 respectively.

"I was definitely better prepared today compared to yesterday’s group stage," said Li.

"As for match experience, I’m definitely superior in this department.

"There is a bit difference in our ability, so that’s why I was more relaxed.”

Defending champions Denmark booked their place in the semi-final of the men's event, called the Thomas Cup, with a convincing 3-0 sweep against South Korea in their quarter-final.

Japan, 3-1 victors in their last eight clash with France, await for the Danes in the last four.

China, led by Olympic champion Chen Long, also continued their passage through the tournament with a 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei.

The Chinese squad will go up against Indonesia after they dispatched Malaysia 3-1.
