South Africa's Rio 2016 Paralympic gold medallist Reinhardt Hamman came out on top in the F35-38 javelin event on the final day of action at the Para Athletics Grand Prix in Rieti.

The 28-year-old's top three attempts out of six saw him record totals of 45.66 metres, 50.40m and 51.58m respectively, with his total of 51.58m enough to hand him the gold medal.

Colombia's Villegas Lucumi was some way behind in second with a mark of 43.98m, whilst Petr Vratil of the Czech Republic rounded off the podium with a distance of 40.76m.

Elsewhere in the field, Luxembourg's Tom Habscheid claimed gold in the shot put F42-47 event with a top mark of 13.30m.

Antonio Acciarino of host nation Italy was second on 10.89m with Belgium's Simon Clinqart rounding off the podium with a mark of 9.28m.

Hosts Italy did, however, manage to get their hands on a field title thanks to Oney Tapia, a world record holder, who clinched victory in the F11-13 discus.

The 42-year-old posted a score of 45.38m, which was more than enough to see off competition from Romania's Petre Prundaru, who threw 27.34m, and fellow Italian Giuseppe Partico who recorded 27.32m.

On the track, Yuliia Shuliar and Natalia Iezlovetska made it a Ukrainian one-two in the women's T20 400m race with times of 1min 47sec and 1:00.96 respectively.

Japan's Aimi Toayam finished third just 0.02 seconds behind Iezlovetska.

Romania also dominated one of the field events as they secured a podium clean sweep in the men's T13 200m race.

Octavian Vasil Tucaliuc was first with a time of 23.66 whilst compatriots Mihai-Nicolae Vitan and Csaba-Daniel Nagy posted times of 26.70 and 27.29 to finish second and third respectively.
