This will be the fifth edition of the project following its debut at the Summer Universiade in Shenzen, China, in 2011.

The journalism education programme is designed to give young journalists between the ages of 21 and 25, or recent graduates in journalism or communications, a unique training experience during the Universiade.

The course for Krasnoyarsk 2019, which will be conducted in English, will see the reporters undertake specialist training in various aspects of sports reporting.

They will analyse what makes a good human interest or sports story and will learn how to tell it "informatively and entertainingly".

Additionally, the participants will be able to specialise in different areas of the media including news reporting, sports photography and social media journalism.

FISU also say that stories, photographs, audio and video packages will be published on their website and social media channels with rights-free, no-cost access to media organisations worldwide.

The stories may also be used by FISU member associations and media organisations.

Following the application process, FISU will select six candidates for the course - one from Africa, one from Asia, one from Oceania, one from Europe and two from the Americas - who will be joined by 12 fellow participants from Krasnoyarsk 2019 host country Russia.

The deadline for applications is July 31 with the successful candidates set to be chosen in September.

The Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Unviersiade will take place from March 2 to 12.
