The Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV) has hosted a meeting as part of its preparations for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The meeting was led by Zuleika Seijas, who will serve as the country’s Chef de Mission for the event scheduled to take place from October 6 to 18.

It was attended by deputy Chef de Mission Esteban Álvarez, technical director Magdampi Marín and representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the Institute of Sport and the medical and logistics team.

In addition, the COV has begun meetings aimed at discussing the creation of the National Commission for Sports Justice.

The initiative will serve to organise seminars on doping, sports law, disciplinary law, and electoral and contractual law.

Last month, the 2018 edition of the COV's "Olympism Goes to School" project was launched.

A group of youngsters from the Pedro Fontes de La Vega educational centre got the programme underway by visiting COV headquarters in Caracas.

Olympism Goes to School allows youngsters to go behind the scenes at the COV and gives them the opportunity to learn about Olympic values.

Recreational and educational activities are also part of the visits.

Eduardo Álvarez was re-elected as President of the COV in January.
