The China Dragons secured their first-ever World Series of Boxing win on the final day of the regular season by beating the Indian Tigers at the Qingzhen Training Center in Guizhou.

The Indian Tigers, who beat the Dragons 4-1 in the reverse fixture in Rohtak on Sunday (April 22), made an excellent start to the match after Salman Anwar Shaikh beat Junjun He 2-1 in the 52 kilogram category to put his side 1-0 up.

It was, however, a close bout with two of the judges deciding that the two fighters were just one point apart.

Ankush Dahiy doubled the Tigers' lead thanks to a 2-1 victory in the 60kg bout, making it look like the Indians were on their way to a convincing overall win.

Taximaimaiti Haishaer, however, swung the momentum back into the Dragons' favour with a convincing 3-0 defeat of Dinesh in the 69kg fight.

Jilei Zhang then made it an even 2-2 contest with another comfortable 3-0 victory against Devanshu Jaiswal in the 81kg category.

Maimaiti Aihemaiti completed the Dragons' incredible comeback in the final over-91kg bout with a 3-0 win against Parveen Kumar – the most resounding win of the night with all three judges deciding Aihemaiti was five points ahead - ensuring the Dragons emerged 3-2 winners overall.

Despite losing today, the India Tigers have still qualified for the playoff round of the competition after being ranked the seventh-best team overall following the conclusion of the group stage matches.
