France’s Doran Gouron Le Roch and Kenza Coutard were the strongest performers as action finally begun today at the inaugural Nacra 15 World Championships at the Barcelona International Sailing Centre.

Following two days of postponements due to a lack of wind, three races were held today.

The first scheduled race was cancelled, however, for the same reason.

Le Roch and Coutard lead the way on 17 points.

Switzerland's Arnaud Grange and Marie Van der Klink are second with 29 points, while France's Moriceau-Loquen Gildwen and Margaux Billy are third with 30.

A total of 60 teams from 18 countries have gathered for these Championships, which are due to take place until Friday (April 27) and offer the chance to qualify for this year’s Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

Seven places for Buenos Aires 2018 are available in Barcelona to countries which have not already qualified through continental events.

Nineteen races are scheduled in all.
