Tokyo 2020 have announced that they have agreed a sponsorship deal with meat company Marudai for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

Marudai have officially been attributed to the "Ham, Sausage, Fish sausage, Kamaboko, Roasted Pork and Sparerib" category on the third domestic tier sponsorship programme.

It brings the total number of domestic sponsors for Tokyo 2020 to 49.

The agreement details state that Marudai will "promote the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, support the Japanese Olympic and Paralympic teams and contribute to the success of Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 by using official designations, trademarks and services."

This is not the first time that Marudai have been involved with the Japanese Olympic and Paralympic Movements as they have been in partnership with the Japanese Olympic Committee since 1986.

"Since its establishment in 1958, Marudai has been engaged in the production of a wide range of quality foodstuffs, with their main products being ham and sausages,” said Tokyo 2020 President Yoshirō Mori.

"The company has been working to offer healthier food products to children, something which I'm pleased to say aligns with one of the core concepts of the Tokyo 2020 Games, 'Connecting to Tomorrow’.”

Marudai President Tokuo Kudara added: "We are honoured to be able to participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 as an official supporter.

"Since 1986, we have had a partner agreement with the Japanese Olympic Committee, a public benefit foundation, and have long supported Japan's promotion of sports.

"We want to contribute by creating an event full of hopes and dreams, and help fulfil children’s aspirations that one day they will participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, hoping they will grow strong and sturdy eating our ham and sausage products."
