Para shooters will have their last chance to qualify for the upcoming World Championships during the Grand Prix in Szczecin in Poland, due to begin tomorrow.

Around 120 athletes from 27 countries have entered the event, due to conclude on Saturday (April 14).

Competitors will be hoping to achieve the minimum qualification score for the World Championships, scheduled to take place in Cheongju in South Korea from May 4 to 11.

A total of eight World Championship medal disciplines in air events only are on the programme for the Grand Prix, including three pistol and five rifle competitions.

Uzbekistan’s Server Ibragimov, a P1 Paralympic Games bronze medallist at Rio 2016, is among the entrants for the event.

Szymon Sowinski will hope to challenge Ibragimov on the pistol range at his home venue.

Ibragimov knocked Sowinski off the podium at Rio 2016 and will bid for revenge at the Grand Prix competition.

Ukrainians Oleksii Denysiuk and Vasyl Kovalchuk are among those coming off victories in pistol and rifle events from last month’s World Cup in Al Ain in United Arab Emirates due to compete in Szczecin.

In the rifle events, Kovalchuk heads into Szczecin fresh from winning three medals.

The reigning Paralympic champion will aim to continue his strong run of form prior to the World Championships in South Korea.
