The Chilean Olympic Committee has inaugurated its new Olympic Library ©COCH

The Chilean Olympic Committee (COCH) has inaugurated its new Olympic Library in capital Santiago.

The new facility was opened as the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) held an Executive Council meeting in the city.

It meant COCH President Miguel Ángel Mujica was joined by ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah for the inauguration.

Neven Ilic, the President of Panam Sports, and the previous head of the COCH, was also present alongside ANOC secretary general Gunilla Lindberg.

The library has been funded using money from International Olympic Solidarity, which also has Sheikh Ahmad as its President.

"This is a very important day for us, where we can inaugurate this modern new library, which will be a meeting place for athletes, leaders, officials and sports enthusiasts," said Mujica.

"We appreciate the support of International Olympic Solidarity, whose help was essential to carry out this project."

The sporting delegation was also greeted by Chile's President Sebastián Piñera, who only took office in March.

Santiago is preparing to host the 2023 Pan American Games.
