Quadruple Olympic champion Dario Cologna was among the victors at the 54th edition of the World Military Skiing Championship in Austria.

The 32-year-old Swiss cross-country athlete won the men's 15 kilometres freestyle event at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics in February to add to his two titles from Sochi 2014 and one from Vancouver 2010.

He won the world military title in the same event this week as the resorts of Hochfilzen and Fieberbrunn hosted competition.

Cologna timed in at 32min 31.7sec to clinch a big win over Germany's Lucas Bogl, second in 33:04.3.

Ristomatti Hakola of Finland was third in 33:12.6.

Cologna then added a second gold with Beda Klee and Jonas Baumann in the team event, in front of Finland and Sweden respectively.

Elsewhere, hosts Austria enjoyed a fantastic event with a host of gold medals.

Both the men's and women's biathlon team events went to the host nation, while Elisabeth Kappaurer won the women's giant slalom Alpine event.

Austria also won the women's team competition in Alpine skiing, as well as all four Para-ski titles.

Both gold medals in patrol - which combines cross-country, ski mountaineering and rifle shooting - also went the way of the Austrians.

Switzerland's Benjamin Weger won the men's biathlon sprint title with the women's gold going to Franziska Hildebrand of Germany.

Slovenian skier Stefan Hadalin won the men's giant slalom on the slopes as the Alpine team event went to Germany.

Women's cross-country action saw German Stefanie Boehler win individually over 10km and in the team event with her compatriots.
