Iran and Russia each concluded the World Taekwondo Qualification Tournament for Buenos Aires 2018 with six quota places for this year's Summer Youth Olympic Games.

Thirty-eight berths were available on the second and last day of the event at La Salle Couverte Hammamet in Tunisia.

Athletes knew that they could seal a place for their country in Argentina's capital by advancing far in their competition but individual titles were also up for grabs.

Five weight divisions were contested today with Russia winning two golds.

Georgy Popov triumphed in the men's under-55 kilograms category as he beat Greece's Georgios Ioannou in the final.

Serbia's Bogdan Bulat and Jordan's Zaid Kareem shared bronze.

Russia also won the women's under-44kg division thank to Polina Shcherbakova's win over South Korean Kang Mi-reu.

Mexico and Croatia won bronze medals through Alicia Rodriguez and Lena Stojkovic respectively.

Iran tasted gold today as Hamed Asghari Mahiabdi defeated Ukraine's Oleksandr Dziuba in the men's under-63kg final.

Italian Gabriele Caulo won bronze with Russia's Maxim Emelkin.

Greece and China also won titles as the tournament concluded.

Fani Tzeli was the Greek winner in the women's under-55kg class, seeing off Jordan's Rama Abo-Alrub for gold.

Brazil's Sandy Macedo and Thailand's Kanthida Saengsin won bronze.

Wenzhe Mu then won the women's over-63kg crown for China, ousting Iran's Kimiya Hemmati in the final.

Poland's Marcelina Koszel and Russia's Kristina Adebaio won gold.

Iran and Russia were the only two countries to take six quota spots for Buenos Aires 2018.

South Korea bagged five, while China collected four.

Three places were won by  Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Serbia and Thailand while two places were claimed by Britain, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Chinese Taipei, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States.

Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Georgia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam all earned a spot each.

Athletes will have a rest day tomorrow before the World Taekwondo Junior Championships begin at the same venue on Monday (April 9).
