Egypt won two gold medals at World Taekwondo's Qualification Tournament for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games as 40 athletes bagged quota places for their countries in all.

Five weight divisions were contested on day one of the event at La Salle Couverte Hammamet in Tunisia.

The top eight players in each class earned a quota place for the Youth Olympics in Argentina's capital, with Iran sealing three berths.

South Korea, Croatia, Tunisia, Russia, United States, Egypt, Serbia and Chinese Taipei all sealed two places each while 21 countries clinched one.

As well as sealing a Buenos Aires place, winning the tournament was also a prize on offer and Egypt's Eyad Barakat sealed gold in the men's under-73kg division.

He beat Iran's Ali Eshkevarian in the final as Serbia's Dusan Bozanic and Armenia's Andranik Khachatryan collected bronze.

Abdelrahman Elsayed also won Egyptian gold in the men's over-73kg, as he proved too strong for Chinese Taipei's Lee Meng-en.

Iran's Mohammad Khani and Canada's Ethan McClymont won bronze.

Uzbekistan, the US and Mexico won the remaining three gold medals on offer.
