Denmark’s Carsten Jeppesen has been appointed as secretary general of the World Darts Federation (WDF), subject to confirmation at the annual meeting pending confirmation at the next General Meeting.

Jeppesen, who has represented his country in Open tournaments, has filled the position left vacant when Sijmon Timmers announced his departure at the start of this year.

Timmers said he was unable to commit the necessary time to perform the duties.

"The WDF are pleased to announce that Carsten Jeppesen has been appointed to the position of WDF secretary general," said WDF President Bill Hatter in an official release.

"The position is a temporary appointment until the General Meeting, where the elected position will be available as per our Constitution."

"This is a demanding job that requires commitment from the person performing the duties,” Hatter wrote when the news of Tmmer’s departure became known.

"This includes, but not limited to, being competent with computer skills, handling membership requests, fielding questions from members or even the press, updating governance documents as well as receiving all communications directed at the WDF, preparation of the annual General Meeting and Executive meetings as well as writing the minutes."

The WDF is the official world governing body of the sport, along with the Professional Darts Corporation.
