Hosts Morocco won four gold medals as action concluded today at the African Taekwondo Championships in Agadir.

Three of the home nation’s triumphs at the Inbiaat Sports Hall came in women’s competition.

Soukaina Sahib overcame Ivory Coast’s Bouma Coulibaly in the final of the under-46 kilograms event, while Oumaima El Bouchti beat Tunisia’s Rahma Ben Ali to the under-53kg title and Chaimae Kriem held off Rio 2016 bronze medallist Hedaya Malak of Egypt in the under-73kg gold medal match.

Bronze medals went the way of Egypt’s Habiba Mansour and Tunisia’s Fadia Farhani at under-46kg, Egypt’s Radwa Abdelkader and Nigeria’s Chinazum Nwosu at under-53kg, and Cape Verde’s Sofia Reis and Tunisia’s Ameni Layouni at under-73kg.

Morocco’s one other success came in the men’s under-74kg category as Achraf Mahboubi defeated Tunisia’s Saifeddine Trabelsi.

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Arnold Nkoy and Egypt’s Seif Eissa were the bronze medallists.

In the men’s under-54kg final, Ethiopia’s Solomon Demse beat Senegal’s Senegal Moustapha Kama.

They were joined on the podium by Egypt’s Moaz Nabil and Morocco’s Amine Elharmazi.

The two other men’s finals saw Tunisia’s Ouahid Briki overcome Mali’s Oumar Sissoko at under-63kg and Ivory Coast’s Seydou Gbane defeat Morocco’s Noureddine Ziani at under-87kg.

Morocco’s Reda Bennay and Senegal’s Mouhamed Diao were the under-63kg bronze medallists, while Egypt’s Abdelrahman Darwish and Mali’s Karamoko Soumare rounded out the under-87kg podium.

The women’s under-62kg final was won by Egypt’s Rewan Refaei at the expense of Morocco’s Soukayna El Aouni.

Cameroon’s Ornella Ngassa Sokeng and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Naomi Katoka were the bronze medallists.

The World Taekwondo President's Cup for the Africa region is due to begin tomorrow and conclude on Sunday (April 1).

Like the African Taekwondo Championships, the event will take place at the Inbiaat Sports Hall.
