The third and final International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) SnowKite WorldCup of the season has taken place at the Turkish ski resort of Erciyes.

Following successful editions in Italian venues Reschensee and Roccaraso, the Erciyes stop produced success for Germany, Italy, Austria and Latvia.

The eight events saw four competitors earning two victories apiece.

Felix Kersten of Germany won the racing ski men’s event, ahead of Andrea De Lisa of Italy and Hakan Eski of Turkey, and the long distance ski men’s event ahead of France’s Pascal Boulkanoff and De Lisa.

Maria Stellitano of Italy won the racing ski women’s event and the long distance ski women’s event.

In the racing snowboard men’s title went to Reinhold Gehrer of Austria, with Turkey’s Gökhan Karaköse and Necati Kura taking second and third place respectively. 

Gehrer then took the long distance snowboard men’s event ahead of Karaköse and Cagatay Dinçer of Turkey.

Latvia’s Aija Ambrasa took the racing snowboard women’s title ahead of Carola De Groot of The Netherlands and bronze medallist Ayşegül Ünlü  of Turkey.

She then won the long distance snowboard women’s event ahead of the same two competitors.

All four winners on the day secured the status of SnowKite WorldCup champions.

Erciyes is a well-known venue on the International Ski Federation (FIS) snowboard calendar and is also home to the annual Erciyes Snowkite Festival.

The IKA have been working with the World Ice and Snow Sailing Association since 2009 on the development of rules, whilst they have also cooperated on race management and jury work.

The IKA, a member of World Sailing, also works with FIS on individual snowkite events.
