Norway’s Christian Nummedal and Silvia Bertagna of Italy clinched the overall big air titles on the final day of the International Ski Federation Freestyle Skiing World Cup in Québec City.

Nummedal wrapped up the season's crystal globe in style by winning the last event of the campaign in the Canadian city.

The race for the men's overall crown was a dead heat between the Norwegian and Elias Ambuehl of Switzerland, who both had 129 points going into the event.

It was Nummedal who prevailed on the day as he wrapped up the title with a score of 189 points.

Ambuehl had the chance to leapfrog his rival into top spot but crashed out of his last attempt, handing the Norwegian the victory.

"I came here in first overall together with Elias, but I tried to not think about that too much and tried to have fun an ski as best as I could," said Nummedal.

"Elias actually pumped me up to try the triple even though we were tied in the standings going for the globe.

"He is a legend and I hope he’s back soon and it’s not too serious."

Bertagna arrived in Québec City needing a slice of luck to claim the overall crown and that was exactly what she got.

The Italian, who began the competition in fifth place on the big air standings, was relying on mistakes from her rivals as Chile’s Dominique Ohaco seemed poised for the title.

Ohaco needed to finish third or better to seal the crystal globe but she could only manage fourth, opening the door for Bertagna.

Bertagna was unable to win the event but her second-place result on 174 points, behind Canadian Dara Howell, saw her end the season in top spot.

Third place on the day went to Howell's team-mate Megan Cressey.
