Japan's Sara Takanashi finally won a 2017-2018 Women's Ski Jumping World Cup event at the penultimate competition of the season in Oberstdorf.

The Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic bronze medallist won the last two overall titles before this term - winning 14 events in 2015-2016 and nine in 2017-18.

She has not had it her own way this season, however, relinquishing the World Cup crown to Norway's Olympic gold medallist Maren Lundby.

Takanashi, who has won the World Cup crown four times in all, did ensure she would end this season with a win to her name as she jumped 100.5 metres and 96.5m for 227.1 points on the German hill.

Austria's Daniela Iraschko-Stolz came second with two efforts of 101.5m for 224.1 points.

Lundby ended her superb season with bronze, jumping 93.5m and 95.5m and ending on 221.7.

The final event of the season will also be in Oberstdorf tomorrow.

In men's action, the penultimate World Cup event of the campaign was a team competition on the ski flying hill in Planica.
