Great Britain's Matt Skelhon and Sweden's Joackim Norberg were opening day winners at the Para Shooting World Cup of rifle, pistol and shotgun in Al Ain.

The event is the first major competition of the year in the sport.

It also marks the inaugural combined World Cup events across the three shooting disciplines.

Skelhon, a gold medallist at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, was in impressive form in the mixed R3 10 metres air rifle event at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club.

He equalled the world record with a score of 254.8.

Radoslav Malenovsky and Veronika Vadovicova took silver and bronze medals for Slovakia.

Malenovsky shot 253.8 while three-time Paralympic champion Vadovicova managed 232.3 for bronze.

Norberg later claimed victory in the P3 25m pistol mixed SH1 final.

The Swede managed a world record final score of 28 to win by five shots.

Korhan Yamac of Turkey took a distant second place with 23 and Huang Xing of China managed 18 for bronze.
