The Netherlands finished in seventh place at the Cricket World Cup qualifier in Zimbabwe following victory over Nepal, while in a historic ninth/tenth place play-off - it was the 4,000th one day international match to be played - Papua New Guinea defeated Hong Kong.

With the Super Sixes matches due to start again tomorrow, today was given over to the conclusion of the play-offs for the four teams who failed to progress from the original group matches in the International Cricket Council's qualifying tournament.

The Netherlands were 189-9 at the end of 50 overs, with Bas de Leede top scoring on 39 in their match at the Kwekwe Sports Club.

Sompal Kami took 4-24 in 10 overs, and played the leading part in Nepal's response, top-scoring with 36.

But Nepal fell short as they were dismissed for 144 after 44.4 overs, with Roelaf van der Merwe taking 4-19.

Papua New Guinea set a target of 200 in 48.2 overs in their match at Old Hararians, Harare, with Tony Ura scoring 49.

Kinchit Shah was the most effective bowler for Hong Kong, taking 4-11.

Hong Kong were all out in response for 142 within 35.2 overs.

Baba Hayat top-scored with 37, with Papua New Guinea's Charles Amini taking 4-27.
