Having claimed two gold medals yesterday, Italian hopes were high for further success at the Subang International Shooting Range.

Dario Di Martino delivered in the men’s 10 metres air pistol event, as the Italian achieved 241.7 points in the final.

China’s Sun Guoxuan and home favourite Eddy Chew of Malaysia completed the podium, as they scored 240.6 and 217.8 respectively.

Italy were absent from the team competition, which allowed India to top the podium with a score of 1,725.

They were followed by silver medallists Russia on 1,716, while South Korea’s score of 1,709 was enough for bronze.

There was further success for Italy in the men’s 50m rifle three positions competition, with Lorenzo Bacci leading the way.

Bacci held his nerve to clinch gold on a score of 451.0 points, with nearest challenger Lukas Eugen Fischer of Germany taking silver on 450.6.

Finland’s Joni Stenstrom was eliminated in third place, having scored 437.7.

Bacci was part of the Italian squad, which also contained Pio Giuseppe Capano and Simon Weithaler, who earned the men’s team title earlier in the day.

The trio achieved a score of 3,467 to clinch the title, with Russia and South Korea rounding off the top three on 3,460 and 3,448 respectively.

There was double gold for Slovakia in the men’s trap competitions, with Filip Praj missing just two shots to win the individual event.

Praj’s score of 48 saw him end three shots clear of second place Yang Kunpi of Taiwan, while Italy’s Simone D’Ambrosio claimed the bronze on 35.

Slovakia were also the winners of the team title, as Filip Marinov and Michal Slamka joined Praj to score 351 points in the final.

Italy and Germany ended three and eight points back respectively to complete the top three.

It is the seventh edition of the International University Sport Federation event.
