World champion Yassine Gharbi beat rival Marcel Hug on the second day of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai.

The Tunisian star, a double gold medallist at last year’s World Para Athletics Championships in London, triumphed in the men’s T54 400 metres wheelchair race.

Gharbi completed the distance in a time of 47.21sec, with Switzerland’s Hug ending as the runner-up in 49.39.

Japan’s Tomoki Suzuki finished third in 49.65.

Tunisia's Walid Ktila was unable to add the 200m and 800m titles he earned yesterday as the 12-time world champion was disqualified in the T33/34 400m race.

Switzerland’s Bojan Mitic was the beneficiary, as he claimed victory in a time of 57.37.

He was followed by local athlete Ahmed Jasem and Britain’s Andrew Small, who ended in 62.15 and 64.25 respectively.
