South Korea maintained its domination of the World Junior Short Track Championships in Poland thanks to the likes of Kim Ji Yoo ©ISU

South Korea’s domination of the World Junior Short Track Championships at the Ice Arena in Tomaszow Mazowieckei in Poland continued today as they added two more individual golds to the three won yesterday.

Kyung Hwan Hong and Kim Ji Yoo, winners of the previous day’s 1,500 metres races, followed up with victories in the men’s and women’s 1,000m finals respectively.

Kyung earned his second title in 1min 30.743sec ahead of compatriots Jang Hyuk Park, silver medallist in 1:30.839, and June Seo Lee, winner of the previous day’s 500m title, who clocked 1:30.898

Kim won the 1,000m in 1:34.251 ahead of Canada’s Courtney Lee Sarault, who took the silver medal in 1:34.301.

Maame Biney of the United States, winner of women’s 500m yesterday, added a bronze medal after clocking 1:34.592.

Later in the day, the 2018 Olympian placed fifth in the women’s 1,500m Super Final to collect enough points to finish third overall in the competition with 54 points.

Biney finished behind Yoo on 94 points and Canada’s Courtney Lee Sarault on 84.

"I just wanted to go out and give it my best and now I’m coming home with three medals," said Biney.

Canada won the ladies 3,000m relay in 4:17.775 ahead of Japan, who clocked 418.275, and bronze medallists Italy on 4:25.775,

Japan took the title in the men’s 3,000m relay in 4:01.417.

The silver medal went to Russia, timed at 4:01.625, and bronze to The Netherlands, who recorded 4:15.319.
