Russia swept the youth pursuit gold medals as the International Biathlon Union Youth/Junior World Championships concluded in Otepää.

Anastasiia Goreeva triumphed in the women's 7.5 kilometres event in 24min 24.0sec despite amassing three penalties.

Germany’s Franziska Pfnuer was 17.5 seconds adrift in second, while Amy Baserga of Switzerland earned the bronze medal in the resort in Estonia.

Goreeva's compatriot Andrei Viukhin then led a Russian podium sweep of the men's event, held over 10km.

Viukhin finished the course in 29:31.2, beating team-mate Mikhail Pervushin by 16.8 seconds.

Aleksei Ogorelkov was some way off his two counterparts but did enough to claim the bronze medal.

Sverre Dahlen Aspenes of Norway clinched the final title on offer at the event as he reigned supreme in the junior men's 12.5km pursuit competition.

Aspenes clocked 34:16.7 to finish in front of Martin Perrillat Bottonet of France and Johannes Dale of Norway, who ended with silver and bronze medals respectively.

"I have never shot 20 out of 20 before; that was the first time," Aspenes said.

"And to do it here, today, was pretty amazing.

"I have no idea how I managed to do it; I just was really calm and stayed focused."

In the junior women's pursuit race, staged over 10km, Markéta Davidová of the Czech Republic prevailed with a time of 32:52.6.

Davidová denied Kamila Zuk a third gold medal of the Championships as the Polish biathlete was forced to settle for silver.

France’s Myrtille Begue took the bronze medal.
