Paralympic gold medallists Grace Clough and Lora Fachie are among five new representatives elected to the British Paralympic Association (BPA) Athletes' Commission, it has been announced.

Both Clough and Fachie won gold medals at Rio 2016. 

Clough was part of the rowing mixed coxed four and cyclist Fachie claimed pursuit gold and time trial bronze medals with pilot Corrine Hall.

They are by swimmer and canoeist Charlotte Henshaw, powerlifter Ali Jawad and skier Sean Rose following the elections to replace members of the BPA Athletes' Commissions who had completed their statutory four-year terms.

They join current representatives Stef Reid, Clarie Cashmore, Sophie Christiansen, Helene Dyson and Ben Quilter. 

The Athletes' Commission seeks to represent a balance of summer and winters sport, male and female athletes and a range of impairment groups.

It plays a crucial role in ensuring the athletes’ views are represented to the BPA Board, Executive Team and Games Planning Group where it provides crucial insight to help inform ParalympicsGB planning for Winter and Summer Games, it is claimed. 

Henshaw won a silver medal in the SB6 100 metres breaststroke at London 2012 and a bronze in the same event at Rio 2016. 

Last year she transferred from swimming to canoeing and finished second KL2 in the women’s 200m at the European Championships in Bulgaria.

Jawad won his his first-ever Paralympic medal with a silver in the men’s under 59 kilograms category at Rio 2016. 

Rose first represented Britain in Alpine skiing at the Winter Paralympics Games in Turin 2006 and also competed at Vancouver 2010.
