Sweden's Elvira Oeberg and Russia's Mikhail Pervushin both won their third gold medals of the International Biathlon Union Youth/Junior World Championships thanks to youth sprint success today in Otepää.

Oeberg, the sister of Pyeongchang 2018 individual gold medallist Hanna, added to her own individual and relay titles with a winning time of 19min 46.7sec at the Estonian venue.

She missed just once at the range as she beat Finland's Heidi Nikkinen, who had the same shooting record, into silver with her time 13.1 seconds adrift.

Another Swede in Amanda Lundstroem shot clean but was 16.7 seconds off the leader's pace for bronze in the 7.5 kilometre race.

The missed shot from Oeberg came at the standing phase but her speed on the skis meant she still left the penalty loop in second position.

"I am living the dream," she said afterwards.

Pervushin's win over 10km, also adding to individual and relay golds, came in a time of 20:17.3 and after a perfect display at the range.

Tommaso Giacomel of Italy also shot clean but stopped the watches 21.9 seconds adrift.

Vitezslav Hornig of Czech Republic missed once during his bronze medal-winning performance, in a time which was 38.6 seconds back.

Both winners today will be in pole position for their fourth gold medals in pursuit contests on Sunday (March 4).

Junior sprint action will take place tomorrow.
