Japan's men sealed their spot at the World Team Cup Finals after winning the Asian qualification tournament for the wheelchair tennis event in Sri Lanka.

They proved too strong for 2016 winners China in the final at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association in Colombo, winning the best-of-three contest 2-1.

China managed to take the lead in the final as Shunjiang Dong beat Yoshinobu Fujimoto 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to level the career head-to-head between the two players to one victory apiece.

The Japanese drew level as world number eight Takashi Sanada, who sat out his country's 3-0 defeat to hosts Sri Lanka in the last round robin match, returned to action.
