Day three of the World Youth Bowls Championships at Broadbeach Bowls Club in Gold Coast saw the players compete in the singles events, with the form team from the mixed pairs event keeping up their impressive performances.

In section one of the men's event it was Australia's Aaron Teys who kept up his good momentum from yesterday's mixed pairs action.

Despite losing the first game 21-12 against Ross Owen of Wales, Teys recovered to win his next two matches 21-6 and 21-4 against New Zealand's Rory Soden and Papua New Guinea's Allan Kautu, respectively, to ensure he sits top of the table on six points.

Teys' compatriot Corey Wedlock also kept up his good form from yesterday's mixed pairs event in today's men's section two matches, with three victories out of three.

His first match saw him beat Turkey's Sercan Yanik 21-10 before he followed it up with another 21-10 victory, this time over Namibia's Cabous Olivier.

Finally, he recorded a 21-16 win against Gariga Babona of Papua New Guinea, meaning he is top of the rankings on nine points.

The women's singles event is currently dominated by New Zealand players.

Katelyn Inch tops section one on six points after two 21-9 victories against Hong Kong's Angel So and Canada's Pricilla Westlake respectively.

Unfortunately for her, her 21-17 loss against Australia's Ellen Ryan meant she could not take maximum points today.

Inch's compatriot Tayla Bruce leads the way in section two after beating Yunse Ha of Hong Kong 21-7 and Australia's Kristina Krstic, who topped the mixed pairs table with Wedlock in yesterday’s competition, 21-10.

The Broadbeach Bowls Club will host lawn bowls competition at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast in April.

The event continues tomorrow.
