Patrick Hausding delivered home gold for Germany on the opening day of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Diving Grand Prix season in Rostock.

The 28-year-old was in impressive form throughout the men's three metre springboard competition at the Hallenschwimmbad Neptun indoor pool.

Hausding achieved a total score of 493.35 points to claim victory in front of a home crowd.

The two-time Olympic medallist was followed by Mexico’s Jahir Ocampo, who ended as the runner-up on 479.65.

Russia’s Nikita Sleikher rounded off the podium places by achieving a score of 443.80 from his dives.

China's Yajie Si emerged as the winner of the women’s 10m platform competition, topping the standings on 361.90 points.

She was followed by Viviana Del Angel, with the Mexican diver scoring 349.10 for the silver medal.

Britain’s Lois Toulson completed the podium, after she was awarded 334.00 points.

Xiaohu Tai and Yiwen Cehn combined to good effect to win the first ever mixed 3m synchronised springboard event held as part of the Grand Prix in Rostock.

The Chinese pairing ended the competition with a score of 325.56.

They finished some way clear of Germany’s Tina Punzel and Lou Massenberg, with the local divers settling for the runner up spot on 295.11.

The German duo ended narrowly ahead of Mexico’s Dolores Hernandes and Ocampo, whose tally of 293.31 was only enough for bronze.

The men's and mixed 10m synchronised platform titles will be earned tomorrow, along with the men's 3m synchronised event.

The Grand Prix will conclude with the women's 10m synchronised platform and 3m springboard competition, as well as the men's 10m platform event on Sunday (February 25).
