The newly-formed World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe has announced Sportradar as their first-ever sponsor.

Sportradar, an "over-the-top" (OTT) media services company, will provide live and on-demand streaming services for several baseball and softball competitions across Europe, including the European Championships, the Super6 and Youth Championships.

European Softball Federation (ESF) President and WBSC Europe co-chairman Gabriel Waage expressed his delight at the new partnership.

"The joint platform will concentrate all softball and baseball streaming in one place," he said.

"That is great news for all fans and for all potential followers and supporters."

Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) vice-president Rainer Husty, who is also the head of marketing and media, added: "This a unique chance to position our sport on a strong, joint platform.

"We see a lot of potential in this project for the growth of our game and are very happy to have Sportradar as a partner on our side."

Sportradar's managing director of OTT, Rainer Geier, expressed his pride at his company being WBSC Europe's first partner.

OTT allows the streaming of events while bypassing traditional service providers.

"We are very pleased to have been signed as the first partner of the new WBSC Europe," said Geier.

"This new initiative will help enhance the popularity and visibility of both softball and baseball across Europe with both live and on-demand broadcasts and video content available for fans.

"This is yet another quality initiative that will see Sportradar's OTT services used to help broadcast sport direct to fans, joining our already established partnerships with federations such as the European Handball Federation, EuroHockey, the International Tennis Federation and the International Table Tennis Federation."

WBSC Europe was formed by merging the CEB and ESF into one body this month.

The move was designed to help the sports become permanent members of the Olympic programme after their comeback appearance at Tokyo 2020.

Both baseball and softball will be played at the Japanese Games after being axed following Beijing 2008.
