The International University Sports Federation (FISU) have completed their move into their new headquarters in Lausanne.

The headquarters are based on the Dorigny Campus of the University of Lausanne.

Titled the "Synathlon", the centre is now set to become the host of four entities which are specialised in promotion, teaching and research in the field of international sport.

FISU are occupying the entire fourth floor and half of the third floor in the four-storey building in the Olympic capital.

In total, they have space of 1,600 metres squared at their Swiss headquarters.

"As a member of the Olympic Movement and enjoying good relationships with the international federations, FISU feels very much at home in Lausanne," said Oleg Matytsin, FISU President.

"To make that home on campus at the Synathlon enables us to enjoy daily reminders of FISU’s vision.

"We are surrounded by the very students whose future leadership we aim to shape with experiences of international university sport.

"And with all our staff under one place, FISU is now well-positioned to execute our ambitious strategy for the coming years.”

The organisation are one of four bodies to be housed in the building.

They are joined by the Institute of Sports Science of the University of Lausanne, the International Academy for Sports Science and Technology and the Cluster Secretariat of International Sport.

The latter consists of representatives of the Canton of Vaud, the City of Lausanne and the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

Each of the four organisations have partitioned workspaces, offices and small meeting rooms in a peripheral ring.

The central core features several collective spaces, with the facility aimed at having the bodies work together on complementary activities.

On the ground floor there is due to be a 200-seat auditorium, four classrooms for seminars and a cafeteria.

An official inauguration of the headquarters is currently set to take place on March 2 or 3.

This will coincide with the organisation's next Executive Committee meetings.

Construction of the headquarters began in January 2016.

FISU President Matytsin helped participate in a stone laying ceremony at the site in April that year.

The project had an estimated cost of CHF27 million (£20.8 million/$28.8 million/€23.4 million)

Around CHF15.7 million (£12.1 million/$16.8 million/€13.6 million) of the overall cost was being covered by the State of Vaud.

FISU has previously been based at the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne.

It is home to a number of the International Federations and is located in close proximity to the headquarters of the IOC.
