Canada secured the qualification spot for the Americas in the International Floorball Federation (IFF) Americas Men's World Championship after a 5-4 win over the United States earned them overall victory in their weekend play-off in Toronto.

The home side won the first of the two scheduled matches at Ryerson University yesterday by 3-2.

In the IFF rankings, the United States arrived for this qualification event ranked 11th, with Canada 12th.

The sides were evenly matched - as both results demonstrated.

This weekend’s competition follows qualification events which have already taken place in Asia/Oceania and across Europe.

The Czech capital Prague is due to host the World Championships between December 1 and 9 this year.

Finland are the defending champions.
