Norway won the men's relay on the final day of the European Ski Orienteering Championships in Bulgaria after the women's results were annulled due to mistakes made with the maps.

Jørgen Madslien got the Norwegian trio off to the perfect start in Yundola, coming home after the first leg with a 32 second advatage.

This was extended by Øyvind Watterdal who built the lead to nearly a minute-and-a-half.

Russia did manage to cut the gap on the final leg but Andrey Lamov could not catch Norway's Lars Moholdt who brought home the victory for his team.

The Norwegians were clocked at 1 hour 31min 18sec as Russia won silver in 1:31:35.

Bronze went to Finland's Tuomas Kotro, Misa Tuomala and Tero Linnainmaa in 1:34:05.

The women's race had been won by Russia, with Sweden second and Norway third.

However, the International Orienteering Federation has since confirmed that the result has been declared void.

"Unfortunately, some mistakes with first leg maps were done and women's race results were cancelled by a jury decision," a statement said.

The event in Bulgaria doubled as the second round of the Ski Orienteering World Cup season.
