Eight-time Paralympic skiing gold medallist Lauren Woolstencroft featured in a Toyota advert during the Super Bowl as the build-up continues to the Winter Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang.

The Super Bowl is the most watched television event of the year in the United States, acting as the championship game of the National Football League (NFL) season.

Adverts have become an established part of the spectacle for audiences, with car manufacturer Toyota among the companies to have spots this year.

The company showed three adverts, including "Good Odds" from their "Start Your Impossible" campaign.

It features Woolstencroft, highlighting her journey from overcoming tremendous odds to becoming a Paralympic gold medallist.

The Canadian featured at three Paralympic Games during her career, which drew to a close at Vancouver 2010.

The skier had become first Canadian Paralympian to win five gold medals in a single Games.

"If I could describe my journey in the Paralympic Winter Games in one word, I would say determination," said Woolstencroft.

"It's been a wonderful experience partnering with Toyota on this global platform to tell my story of overcoming odds.

"I hope that my story encourages and inspires others around the world to pursue their passions, and reach for their own personal best."

The advert also aimed to celebrate Toyota's evolution to a mobility company and its eight-year global sponsorship of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Two further Toyota adverts were also shown, including "One Team", which attempted to show a light-hearted narrative illustrating how people from diverse backgrounds unite to celebrate their shared passion of sports.

The final advert, called "Mobility For All", aimed to promote mobility as a human right.

The Paralympic Games are due to take place in South Korea from March 9 to 18.
