German sliders will be the favourites at their home International Luge Federation Junior World Championships which begin tomorrow in Altenberg.

Almost 150 athletes from 22 nations will compete for the title on the artificial ice track.

The favourite for the men's event will be Germany's Max Langenhan.

Langenhan has won every Junior World Cup event this season, giving him a commanding lead over compatriot Moritz Elias Bollmann in the overall standings.

Jessica Tiebel, also German, will be the favourite for the women's competition.

The defending champion claimed an impressive bronze medal on her senior World Cup debut in Königssee.

Italians Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier are likely to take the title in the doubles.

The pairing already have senior World Cup experience along with three Junior World Cup wins.
